"Ramón Llull’s influence on Giordano Bruno: understanding nature"
Els espais de Ramon Llull: context, pensament i projecció, ed. Rafael Ramis Barceló (Madrid: Editorial Sindéresis, 2026), pp. 695-710.
Giordano Bruno was one of the most effective followers of Ramón Llull in the 16th century. He also was aware of the historical context of Lullism and advertised it for university teaching. In this paper the focus is on nature as a key area of the application of Lullian method in philosophy. ‘Nature’ with its implication of ‘naturizing’ is applied to other ideas so that the ars focuses on the objects. Lull emerges as the unifier of academic disciplines, including university faculties and the divide between theology and philosophy; and Bruno reveals in this unifying method the implicit identity of propositions and objects, ideas and facts.
